Adrian is the seat of Lenawee County and home to Adrian College and Siena Heights University — both liberal-arts colleges with historic religious affiliations (Methodist and Dominican Catholic, respectively). The city's civic identity blends agricultural southeastern Michigan with a small-college intellectual life.
The Catholic and evangelical churches in Adrian carry the historic pro-life teaching without compromise. Adrian's Dominican Sisters heritage runs deep — a tradition that has always taught the personhood of the preborn. The abolitionist argument is the civil-law extension of that teaching.
