Immediate, total abolition — no exceptions
West Bloomfield is a wealthy Oakland County township on the Cass Lake / Sylvan Lake corridor — home of one of the largest Jewish populations in Michigan (Adat Shalom, Congregation Beth Ahm, Temple Israel), a substantial Chaldean Catholic community, and a growing Indian-American professional class.
West Bloomfield's Orthodox Jewish and Chaldean Catholic communities both teach that human life begins early in the womb. The abolitionist case here finds coalition partners across religious traditions that agree on the core fact.

Michigan reported 28,491 induced abortions statewide in 2023 — a documented rise since the 2022 Reproductive Freedom for All amendment. The number above counts only Michigan residents of Oakland County; it does not include out-of-state travelers or self-managed abortions at home.

Prop 3 vote · Oakland County · 2022
A majority of Oakland County voters approved Proposal 22-3, the Reproductive Freedom for All amendment. Statewide, it passed 56.7% to 43.3%. A majority vote does not settle whether preborn image-bearers deserve equal protection under the law — that is a moral question the ballot cannot answer, and it is exactly the question the abolition movement asks Michigan to reopen.
