The Catholic and evangelical Protestant churches in the Leelanau Peninsula hold the historic pro-life teaching. Northwest Michigan's political culture is trending purple but receptive to arguments made on their merits.

Prop 3 vote · Leelanau County · 2022
A majority of Leelanau County voters approved Proposal 22-3, the Reproductive Freedom for All amendment. Statewide, it passed 56.7% to 43.3%. A majority vote does not settle whether preborn image-bearers deserve equal protection under the law — that is a moral question the ballot cannot answer, and it is exactly the question the abolition movement asks Michigan to reopen.
