L'Anse is the seat of Baraga County — a small Upper Peninsula village at the head of Keweenaw Bay, home to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and a strong French-Canadian and Ojibwe heritage.
The Catholic parishes serving L'Anse and the Keweenaw Bay Community hold the historic teaching against abortion. The KBIC's traditional Anishinaabe teachings on the sanctity of life converge with the Catholic pro-life witness in this small UP community.
We are not currently aware of an abortion facility operating inside L'Anse.

A majority of Baraga County voters rejected Proposal 22-3 — the Reproductive Freedom for All amendment. Statewide it passed 56.7% to 43.3%, but Baraga County did not go along.
