Manistee County · county-seat community
Immediate, total abolition — no exceptions
Manistee is the seat of Manistee County — a Lake Michigan port city named after the Ojibwe word for "spirit of the woods." Home to the Ramsdell Theatre (an 1903 architectural landmark) and the Little River Casino.
Northwest Michigan's Catholic, Reformed, and evangelical Protestant churches hold the historic teaching against abortion. Manistee's small-city civic culture is receptive to the abolitionist argument.
We are not currently aware of an abortion facility operating inside Manistee.

Prop 3 vote · Manistee County · 2022
A majority of Manistee County voters approved Proposal 22-3, the Reproductive Freedom for All amendment. Statewide, it passed 56.7% to 43.3%. A majority vote does not settle whether preborn image-bearers deserve equal protection under the law — that is a moral question the ballot cannot answer, and it is exactly the question the abolition movement asks Michigan to reopen.
